=================================================================== Speed Stacking Revisited
Published February 25, 2012 | By mommylala

Speed Stacking is something that my daughter Sam fell in love with a few years back. We brought her to an event where the current world champion at that time was visiting the country – Steven Purugganan. We brought her a set of speed stacks and had it autographed by him. She practiced this for awhile but eventually her interest waned.
Then, a few weeks back, while sorting through her toys, we found her speed stacks and her fondness for the sport was revived. This time, she loved it so much that she actually wants to study earlier so she can have time to “speed stack.”She was able to convince me to buy her another set of speed stack so that she and her cousin Alfie can play together. And then, a Sibika exam made me agree to get her the other kind of speed stacks. So I had to literally move heaven and Earth to find me these – the mini speed stacks and the Jumbo speed stacks. She used them as “props” to her quiz in Sibika where she needed to show a commercial of anything she wanted. She decided she wanted to promote “Speed Stacking”. So now – she, Alfie and even my son Jose Luis, are having a wonderful time competing amongst each other. Their times are nowhere near the world Champions but they sure are World Champs in my eyes!!!

EYES ON THE PRIZE: Upper Hutt's Nick Kananghinis is a speed stacker for the Black Stacks team heading to Germany.
New Zealand youngest sport stacker knows he has a shelf life and intends to make the most of his short-lived agility.Upper Hutt boy Nicholas Kananghinis, 11, can be seen along Cuba Mall most weekends, busking so he can join the NZ Black Stacks team at the world championships in Butzbach, Germany, in April. As well as raising funds, it's a chance to train, and he often breaks records as he does it.Nicholas discovered sport stacking a year ago – participants stack and unstack 12 specially designed plastic cups in a pre-determined sequence.
================================================================= Keyboarding Cup Stacking
 My kindergarten students are very familiar with how to use a mouse, but not so much with the keyboard. I don't expect my kinders to be able to type--I can't type without looking!!!!-- but I know they need to start to become familiar with letter placement on a QWERTY keyboard. A fun way for them to practice is to play the cup stacking game from Learning Games for Kids. =================================================================
